Most handlebar and footpeg positions in our database are still estimates, because no manufacturer publishes them. Owners can fix that in ten minutes with a tape measure, and every measurement helps every rider who checks that bike.
Measure your motorcycle
You need a tape measure, a plumb line (a string with a weight) and a level floor. Put the bike upright, off the side-stand (ask a friend to hold it, or use a paddock stand), with nobody sitting on it.
- Seat reference point: find the lowest point of the seat. Measure its height from the floor.
- Grip: drop the plumb line from the centre of the left grip. Measure the grip’s height from the floor, and the horizontal distance from the plumb line to the seat reference point.
- Footpeg: measure the height of the top of the left footpeg from the floor, and its horizontal distance to the seat reference point (forward or behind).
- Seat width: measure the seat width where your thighs go down, about 10 cm in front of the lowest point.
- Write down the model, year, seat option and any modifications.
Send your measurements by email with a side-view photo if you can.
Report how a bike fit you
On every motorcycle page you can tell us your height, inseam and how the bike actually felt. These real-rider reports are how we validate the model.
